Shoot the Monkey - Episode 22

Dr. Carlson shoots a monkey in this classic demonstration of two dimensional motion. If you want to hit an object that is about to be dropped, do you aim above, at, or below it? The answer is a few short minutes away.

(No animals were harmed in the making of this film...)

I really like the video. He explained dimensional motion in a realistic way helping to explain a complex theory.

Ok first of all, you scared me when you said it's an experiment called, "shoot the monkey". I have to admit, I didn't want to see it. Thank god, it's just a science monkey! I thought that whenever you are aiming to shoot something that I would aim below so the falling object object would eventually get hit. I was wrong. I am not good at this thing. Turns out that the you have to aim straight on! Aim at the monkey straight at it and it will get it.

Thanks for the compliment tpclack...

"Shoot the Monkey" is what the experiment has been called for some time. I'm glad you took the chance to watch the video anyway. (Really, where would I get a monkey to shoot anyway? They're expensive, not to mention cute little dudes...)
